silvermine hike

This weekend afforded the Capetonians gorgeous weather! Finally Cape Town is learning – good weather on the weekends and (if it must) bad weather during the week.

Saturday was spent lazing at the pool, doing nothing more constructive than turning the pages of my book every so often and rolling over to get an even tan ;)  So on Sunday we decided to be slightly more productive and get our butts into gear and go on a hike at Silvermine. R5 entry and it’s even safe enough to leave your car window wide open for two hours while on the hike (well done to Bradley) ;)

But honestly Silvermine must be one of the best places to hike in Cape Town – the first part of the hike we ventured far into the valley to see the gorgeous waterfall.

And the second part – we backtracked a bit then went up and around the peak to see the view on the other side (the second part of the hike is why my legs feel as though they ran a marathon).

This was such a great day out, and it didn’t even take up the whole day, about two hours and we were home and ready to take on the rest of Sunday :)

the annex – Kalk Bay’s best kept secret

So this weekend The Bradley and I decided on a little trip to Kalk Bay to The Annex – originally we were going there for their famous Red Velvet Cheesecake but after a quick look at their menu, we just had to try something else on there too!

The Bradley and me :)

So… for the best french toasted croissant with bacon and banana and maple syrup and for the best flapjack stack with bacon – the Annex is where you need to go! It was melt in your mouth, amazing, ‘I want more’ cuisine.

A little snapshot of where we sat, up above the harbour

The view was none too bad either, sitting in the shade of the beautiful trees, up above the harbour, the perfect setting. Made even better by lovely waiters, who were friendly and always ready when we needed them.

The view

There’s not much more to say, other than take a look for yourself! You won’t regret it!

daisies daisies daisies

Better late than never I guess!

As the whole of Cape Town knows – and most likely the rest of South Africa too – last weekend was the beautiful time of year where we gather our most stylish rags, pack minimal food and maximum liquid and trek out into the beautiful winelands of Darling.

For those of you who are living under a rock and have no idea what Rocking the Daisies is – it is a 4 day music festival: now in its fifth year, Rocking the Daisies is the fastest growing eco-friendly music and lifestyle festival in South Africa (courtesy of

Rocking the Daisies

Cool festival feature - have a photo emailed to your personal email - instantly! Who needs a camera!?

This year was my 4th year at Daisies and it proved to be just as amazing as the previous years combined. Albeit the queues were average, but I guess what can we expect if the venue went from housing 10 0000 people to 15 0000 people with no additional facilities!

Hands down my two favourite performers were Matthew Mole and of course, the ever popular, Jeremy Loops.

Nothing more amazing than listening to Jeremy Loops in the beautiful late afternoon sunshine

If you don’t know who Matthew Mole is – you are missing out! The goosebumps we got while sitting on the grass in the sun listening to his set was just too incredible for words. Take a look at his Facebook Page to see what he is all about. and listen to his stuff here ——> Matthew Mole Tracks

Listening to Matthew Mole, chilling at the tent, The Bradley and I at Jeremy Loops

The food was incredible – we lived on the amazing Hudsons chips for pretty much the whole weekend. There was more than enough types of music to suit everyones taste from amazing local and international bands, electronic beats, the Nu World beat barn is always a winner and so much more!

Hands down though, I would say the best part of it and the part that still gives me goosebumps now when I think about it – is when Bloc Party was in the middle of their set and it the rain came down! The lighting show and the beats and the way it lit up the night was something never to be forgotten!

We were there!

Bubblegum tequila - need I say more?

About 360 days and counting to the next RTD! woooooo! :)

city escape within the city – chart farm

A little while ago I heard that somewhere in Cape Town there was a place where you could pick your own roses and be in the city, but feel like you were miles out into nature. So after some research, I found out that this gem of a place is called Chart Farm, situated near Wynberg Park in Cape Town.

It really is a place wher you can go to just get away; it’s quiet and beautiful, you feel relaxed and content – perfect for a Sunday afternoon session.

The menu is basic, but the food is proper farm-style, full of goodness, to-die-for cuisine.

Do yourself a favour and take a drive out there <3

a little adventure to houw hoek inn

Last weekend I was a very lucky girl and was treated to a beautiful weekend away to Houw Hoek Inn, just over an hour away from Cape Town. And what an amazing weekend it was!

There simply wasn’t enough time to take advantage of all there was on offer! We played tennis, acted like little kids on the trampolines, played putt putt, walked around the beautiful lawns and watched the sweet baby ducks, ate incredibly delicious food (and my word did we eat a lot).

There are gorgeous hikes available through the forest, squash to be played, billiards, 4×4-ing and so much more. A perfect place for a couples retreat or a family getaway.

There was a breakfast buffet every morning, a light snack menu for lunch and for dinner we had an A La Carte menu (the pepper crusted fillet Flambéd in brandy and cream is a MUST-HAVE) for the first night and  a set menu for the Saturday Dinner Dance (think old school, old favourites kind of music).

This was the most beautiful place for a weekend away and I couldn’t think of a more amazing place. The staff are down to earth and always have a smile on their face, the grounds are beautiful and well-kept and the rooms are beautiful all equipped with a fireplace to keep away the chill <3

Winter – Forever New

Winter appears to have arrived early in the Cape (last weeks heatwave aside). And with Winter comes all th exciting opportunities to mix and match and be creative with outfits.

Last weekend I went shopping at Canal Walk, and completely fell in love with this thick knitted jersey from Forever New. Its perfect for the cold Winter days and smart enough to wear to the office.

And I am in love with the colour.

What do you think?

we love ~ Moth Clothing

About two weeks ago I worked with Jo from Moth Clothing; we did a mini ‘photoshoot’ of all her new stock in store at Wardrobe in Vineyard Road, next to Cavendish Square.

Jo’s pieces are all one-of-a-kind, and she sources materials from the most unlikely of places – her fabrics range from vintage pieces to new fabrics sourced around Cape Town. Moth’s stuff is truly beautfiul, and I just want it all!

Some good Ol' Moth regulars with-our nautical themed crops and vintage polka dot pocketed shorts with our new!moth tubetops-in all different colours for all those new summer outfits.

What Shall I Wear Today? ~ Summer Stripes

This morning was spent having a lovely walk on the Sea Point promenade with two good friends and delicious Kauai smoothies. I tried their new Blueberry Lemon Twist smoothie – rich blueberries, low fat vanilla frozen yoghurt & a fresh twist of lemon, mmm too yummy!

As it was a beautiful summers day, I wore one of the dresses I bought while in Thailand; I have a weakness for blue and white striped anything! Then I added a pop of colour with my coral and tangerine bracelet pair. Comfy and casual for a few hours in the sun :)

a taste of my travels

In December 2011 I took a trip to Thailand with an old friend from school. It was an amazing adventure; I learnt so much about myself as well as Jessica, we grew exceptionally close and I am so greatful for having the opportunity to learn so much about who I am from the trip. It truly was a trip of a lifetime and I am already having to go back!

This first post is a small taste of our stay Koh Samui beach, our resort was right on the water and simply too beautiful!
